What I’m thankful for…

As my daughter and I wind down from what has been our best holiday season yet, I am reflecting on the year, and all it has brought. Two more babies born just last week {blog pics to update!}, and just in time for Christmas! What a wonderful gift; I cannot think of a more pleasurable way to wrap up what has been an amazing year of growth in my life. Enjoying all the little things, being thankful for what my daughter and I have, wondering what 2012 will bring, and looking forward to supporting many, many more women and their families. Since July of this year, I have supported ten women and families. Ten in six months; awe-inspiring! Not only have I been fortunate enough to support them from the few hours of labor, to the days of labor (six to be exact); reminding my client and her partner of the joyous end in sight… So far, I have been able to support all ten clients, at all ten births! Feels wonderful to be supported {and backed up} by some amazing doula sisters, but even more awesome to have that 100% track record to boot. 🙂 While I know my day will come that extra support will be necessary and needed, I can rest well knowing I’m in good doula hands.

One of my most favorite shots from my doula work this year; I actually come out from behind the lens from time to time. 🙂

Birth Photography update!

As you may know, I am a Photographer as well as a Birth Doula. I just attended my first birth (besides my own with my daughter); what an exhilarating experience! I am looking forward to posting some pics on here (after I receive approval from the parents). I know I am definitely looking forward to my next clients’ birth as well in a few short weeks.
I hope to also post a few captions from the birth story I have yet to type up about my experience and a time line of the events leading up to the birth of Herschel. (LOVE his name, it’s old-fashioned; just like my daughters’ name.)
